How to coat rims with Armour Detail Supply Wheel Coating.
Preparation:
Preparation is the most important step of the process and ensures long-lasting results. This coating is great, but can't do the prep work for you!
- Decontaminate the wheel surface with Armour Detail Supply Wheel Cleaner, followed by removing further embedded contamination with a clay wand or synthetic clay glove.
- If swirl marks or scratches are present, polish the paint to reduce any surface defects and create maximum gloss.
- Use Armour Detail Supply Panel Prep to remove any oils/residue left over from your polishing step. If you have not polished the surface, repeat this step twice to ensure a clean surface.
Application:
- After thorough preparation, primer the applicator with 3 lines and for each subsequent application you only need a small amount.
- Apply Armour Wheel Coating one wheel at a time. Apply with a methodical back-and-forth or crosswise motion, making sure coverage is even. Allow the product to "cure" for 1-3 minutes depending on temperature/humidity (generally 1-2 minutes). Look for light haze to appear before removing.
- In a small circular motion, apply a coating of 95%+ to the first swipe (short pile, pearl fabric), the first swipe will have a slight grip, but the product should be easy to pick up. If the coating begins to smear, it needs additional time to cure. If the product is very difficult to remove, it needs less time to remove. Switch to a 2nd towel (plush) for final leveling. Check for streaks or high spots that may look like cloudy or dark spots. Repeat this process wheel by wheel.
- Use a clean side of the towel for each wheel.
We strongly recommend applying 2 coats for maximum benefits and durability. If you want to apply multiple coats, wait 1-2 hours between coats.
Application in colder conditions extends the time before you can wipe it off (about 2-3 minutes). Application in warmer conditions gives you a shorter time before you can wipe it off (about 1-2 minutes).
Shelf life of 12 months, use within 30 days of opening.
Aftercare:
- Let the product sit for at least 12 hours for initial curing. After 4 hours, you can apply Armour Detail Supply AMPLIFY or Ceramic Spray Sealant to protect the coating during the initial cure. After 12 hours, the vehicle can be driven and wet. Do not wash the vehicle or let it come in contact with chemicals for 7 days.
